Mission | SeventyK

SeventyK’s mission is to change cancer care by educating patients, families, and their healthcare providers about age-appropriate treatment and the unique needs of the adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patient. Unlike pediatric and older adult cancer patients, for over two decades the rate of survival for AYA cancer patients has not improved.

Goals

Improve outcomes from treatment by acknowledging that cancer happens in young people and that their cancer may have unique biological differences;
Ensure that AYA cancer patients have their unique physical needs met, such as preserving fertility;
Acknowledge distinctive psychosocial needs, like dealing with cancer during college, developing and maintaining intimate relationships, and transitioning into adulthood;
Encourage clear communication between patient and medical provider about cancer care and long-term side effects.
